چکیده

During the last years many authors have characterized the produced formation waters (PFWs) with respect to chemical compounds and toxicity. Most of data are related to PFWs collected on offshore platform after treatment process. The available results showed that the particulate phase had an influence on PFW toxicity. Assuming the toxicity of PFWs treated on platform, the aim of this paper is to study the toxicity of these PFWs after a further filtration treatment carried out in laboratory. For this purpose PFWs were sampled from three natural gas platforms located in the Adriatic Sea (Italy) below treatment system. The eco-toxicological bioassays have been conducted on test-organisms belonging to different trophic levels such as bacteria, algae, crustaceans and fishes. The PFWs resulted toxic according to an overall assessment obtained through the bioassays. Furthermore, it has been possible to identify the species that were more sensitive to the tested PFWs, namely Tigriopus fulvus, Dicentrarchus labrax and Vibrio fischeri. Besides, a chemical characterization was reported related to the contaminants present in the PFWs to go with eco-toxicological assessment. Barium, zinc and manganese showed the most concentrations among the metals and the lower molecular weight components were common among the organic compounds. Some differences among PFWs were observed both for toxicity and chemical composition. The highest toxicity was recorded in PFWs (PFW1 and PFW2) containing the highest concentrations of some metals (Ba, Mn and Zn) and/or BTEX.

Evaluation of Baffle Fixes Film up Flow Sludge Blanket Filtration (BFUSBF) System in Treatment of Wastewaters from Phenol and 2,4-Dinitrophenol Using Daphnia Magna Bioassay

Background: Phenol and nitrophenol are common compounds found in different types of industrial wastewater known as serious threats to human health and natural environment. In this study, Daphnia magna was used to evaluate the effectiveness of "baffle fixes film up flow sludge blanket filtration" (BFUSBF) system in elimination of phenolic compounds from water. Methods: D. magna cult...

Modeling of Unsteady-State Cake Formation on a Fracture in Produced Water Re-Injection Process (PWRI)

In petroleum production, Produced Water Re-Injection (PWRI) has earned much interest among disposal methods of the produced water. However, presence of the contaminants in the produced waters usually results in formation damage in well bores and their surrounding fracture systems. In the present study, modeling of external cake formation on a fracture in unsteady-state conditions i...

An Experimental Investigation of Different Formation Waters and Injection Water Incompatibility to Obtain the Optimum Water Mixing Ratio in Injection Processes

Scale formation and well plugging due to the incompatibility of injected waters is a critical field problem in oil recovery. A water injection process was successfully performed when the identification of the source of water, water quality considerations, and laboratory compatibility tests were considered. When different waters are mixed, it is necessary to evaluate their compatibility prior to...

Synthesis and properties evaluation of TiB2 nanoparticles produced by sol-gel method

In this study, TiB2 particles were synthesized by sol-gel method in nanometer size. First, the sol was prepared in a four-component system of alkoxide -boron carbide -water-alcohol based on the sol-gel chemical process under acidic conditions at pH = 5. Titanium tetra-isopropoxide and boron carbide were used as raw materials. After hydrolysis and gel formation followed by heat treatment, TiB2 n...

Cobicistat: a Novel Pharmacoenhancer for Co-Formulation with HIV Protease and Integrase Inhibitors

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) therapy has evolved over the last 20 years from mono-drug therapy given five times daily to regimens consisting of three or four drugs combined in a single-tablet dosed once daily. To allow once-daily administration, several drugs require pharmacokinetic boosting by a concomitantly administered P-glycoprotein and cytochrome P450 inhibitor such as ritonavir. Th...
